How is in-home care different from home health care?+
Home health care is clinical — skilled nursing or therapy ordered by a doctor for a limited time. In-home care is ongoing daily help with personal care and household tasks. Many Milwaukee families use both at once after a hospital stay.
Who pays for in-home care in Milwaukee?+
Wisconsin Medicaid long-term care programs — Family Care, Partnership, and IRIS — pay for authorized in-home personal care hours, with no out-of-pocket cost for qualifying families. Others pay privately by the hour with no long-term contract, or use long-term care insurance or VA Aid & Attendance.
How many hours a week can we get?+
Hours are based on the ADRC functional screen, which documents what your loved one needs help with. Some families are authorized for a few hours a week, others for several hours a day. We help you prepare for the screen so nothing gets missed.
